WHAT ARE YOUR BOUNDARIES?
I have a box and in that box it holds all of my values, morals, beliefs, and other pertinent things in my life. Anything that is outside of that box that is not equal to qualities inside, I don’t give it any of my time; whether it affects my life directly or indirectly it is not worth me paying it any attention. Now this isn’t a literal box but you get my point.
There has to be boundaries set in life so you can avoid unnecessary stress and drama. Know what you want/need and stick with it. If it doesn’t equate to the qualities in your box then let go and don’t entertain it. It’s a difficult task to set boundaries because at times you want to live a life that is free and not full of regrets but you have to remember that boundaries help to guide your life in the right direction. Not having boundaries is similar to settling for less than what you deserve. It’s not fair to yourself to go beneath your desires and worth.
In life I refuse to accept any negativity, especially if I have control of the person or situation being in my life. My parents always told me to never allow anyone to steal my joy and I have to admit that previously I have allowed people to steal my joy or I’ve placed myself in situations that I knew weren’t going to be very joyous. It was a life lesson I learned to appreciate.
When it pertains to dating, which I don’t have a long list of qualifications, I stick to one essential component—respect. That is most important to me and I refuse to not have someone respect me; I want respect with every sense and meaning of the word. That’s not too much to ask. Now with these things being said I’m not requesting these characteristics, creating boundaries and not sticking with them. I have to practice what I preach; remain true to my word so that these qualities stick with my life and the people that will meet in the future.
So this week think about your boundaries and how they can apply to your life. Make sure you’re being honest and true with the characteristics, qualities you want for yourself and others.
