Eve Jane Clair Questionnaire
Q: First things first: If you were Mia would you have cheated on Lance?
E: No, probably not. Honestly, it would have crossed my mind though.
J: I don’t think I could ever get myself to cheat or to even purposely hurt someone. If placed in Mia’s situation, I would have to leave the relationship before I cheated.
C: Nope. I don't even think I would want to. Being hurt because of infidelity and letting another man hit hardly seems like winning to me. I would have called his parents and told them to send him a care package complete with condoms and anti-itch cream in case of an early onset STI.
Q: What are three life principles that apply to you now? Why?
E: Currently, kindness, honesty, and focus. Kindness is important to me because it involves love and a level of maturity and class when it comes to dealing with people. Also, most times when trying to be kind you are being respectful, aware, and generous. Being honesty applies to others and one’s self. It reminds me to stay true to who I am and my dreams as well as being loyal and upfront with everyone I may affect. Honesty requires being true of heart and morally sound. It's also is easier to move through life without a weight of tangled webs surrounding you. Focus is also critical to me at this stage in my life. It reminds me to stay on path to my goals and to always remember the important things in my life..
C: Legacy, faith and progress. I hold legacy in high regard because I think it's a quiet way to let the elders in your life know that you respect, honor and take pride in the paths that they have taken in life by following in their footsteps. Faith is a necessity and a principle I will never compromise. When God says "jump" I jump, I don't ask how high. Progress is simple. I grew up being told that each generation has to do better than the last, and I always aim to do just that.
Q: Which character do you relate to most?
E: Robyn, especially in the first film when she struggled with which career path to choose, as well as her trying to constantly be an optimist in the second film.
J: It’s a tie between Mia and Jordan. Mia is so genuine and naturally just an all-around sweet person. Jordan is very career driven which is similar to the person I’m becoming.
C: Jordan Armstrong, easily. I definitely prioritize my career aspirations over relationships at this stage in my life which I view as an asset. And there is a saying that your career will never wake up and tell you that it doesn't love you anymore. Over time, I'd love to be as successful as Jordan but with Mia's heart. If that's even possible.
Q: Which guy is your ideal man? In the original?
E: Lance Sullivan in both films for many, many reasons.
J: Lance Sullivan, of course!
C: I have to be honest, because Lance was such a cheater in the first movie, Quentin, his guitar and smart mouth might have tipped the scales in his favor. In the second film it's Lance hands down.
Q: What was your favorite part of the movie?
E: The whole football game scene going into the moment Lance arrived back to his home.
J: The entire movie was great so it is difficult to pick my favorite part but I will say that I enjoyed the intro/opening credits. I liked that it showed scenes from the first Best Man to prepare use for what is to come next.
C: The opening credits when we see how everyone's life has progressed over 15 years.
Q: Least Favorite?
E: The reoccurring appearance of Lance and Mia’s children who looked like they were adopted. The fact that they looked like both of their parents were not black at all really bothered me.
J: I can’t find anything wrong with the movie, it was great.
C: The end credits when I realized that the movie was over and all I was left with were my feelings.
Q: On a scale from leaky faucet to hurricane, how hard did you cry?
E: Hurricane Sullivan.
J: Absolute hurricane! The movie was so moving that my emotions were all over the place; I cried and I cried hard.
C: Hurricane. I cried like it was real life.
Q: Favorite (other) movie starring two or more main characters?
E: Taye Diggs and Sanaa Lathan in Brown Sugar and also The Wood.
J: Morris Chestnut and Nia Long in Boyz In the Hood, Taye Diggs and Sanaa Lathan in Brown Sugar, Regina Hall and Sanaa Lathan in Love & Basketball.
C: Taye Diggs and Regina Hall in Malibu's Most Wanted.
Q: If you could write yourself into The Best Man 3 what role would you play?
E: Lance’s new wife, of course. haha!
J: My role would not be significant at all because I just want to be an extra. It will just be exciting to be there so I will just play it cool in the background.
C: Jordan's protogé.
Q: The Best Man 3 Predictions?
E: Q. will be getting married to most likely Shelby. In the third film we will find out that Shelby’s daughter is actually Q’s daughter. Lance will be remarried but his wife will be struggling to fit in with Lance’s friends. Harper will no longer be an author, and he and Robin will have at least one more child.
J: Q. is getting married! I honestly don’t know what could possibly happen at this point but I know that Malcolm D. Lee will do a great job.
C: Harper's original novel Unfinished Business will get a movie deal and The Best Man will be made in The Best Man 3. I have no idea.
